Romania legalizes witchcraft
What’s better than a Witch in Romania? A registered Witch! 😉
A Romanian woman has become the country’s first legally registered witch. Gabriela Ciucur, 31, from Targu Jiu, persuaded authorities to accept witchcraft as a profession after months of negotiations. She told local media: “The authorities sent me home and told me it was ridiculous at first. But we finally reached a deal and registered my company as dealing with astrology and connections to the spirit world.”
Witchcraft is quite popular in Romania as many local people believe in the occult, especially in rural areas. All over Eastern Europe women tend to believe in the powers of witches and some often resort to their help when settling a love score, healing a broken heart, or punishing a rival.
Can we say that the spiritual realm of Romania has been cast under a spell? 😉

Well first of all, i would like to say
that i am a proud citizen of the United States of America, and that I believe that Witch Craft should not be Legall in any way! I was raised believing that Witch Craft was the works of the Devil! I believe that Witch Craft should not be legall in any country or nation, but I am only one person, with one voice! I would recommenend that the government of the country should un-legalize Witch Craft, the reason I say this is because legalizing witch craft is basically saying that ”witch craft is ok, it will not hurt or harm any one person!” but I highly dissagree, I believe this should be kept illegal.

Mrs C Brown have a great psychologic problem. I live in France, here a GREAT majority of people know and practice witchcraft. Mrs Brown, as a good puritane american, thinks that witchcraft is from the devil. But most witches are Wicca (living in the respect of others and the nature). Wicca are against all form of violence. Legalizing is not allowing it in all forms. It’s finding a way to controling, as everything else legalized. By legalizing witchcraft, people can control who’s a good witch, and who’s not, and not allowing the bad ones to be registered. America still have a great step to do in comprehension of other cultures.

It is sad that some persons label the spirituality of others as satanic or evil. Witchcraft has always been the spirituality of a woman that a man disagrees with! Why is it evil to find your own path, and repect the earth and its natural powers- powers that also have been given to you and reside in you? This is a highly personal matter. It is a shame that in this day and age we must still seek recognition from the state as a means of protection from witch hunts as in the past. Please speak gently of the beliefs of others, especially when you do not understand them.

I only have one question.. As a religious person, who believes in God, how can one accept that Witchcraft works? Most of the people who say such bad things about Witchcraft don’t even know their own religion, not to speak about knowledge of other religions or cultures..

Congratulations to the witchcraft practitiioners of Romania! To be illegal in the first place is a disgrace, While I live in Canada and what we hear about it comes mainly from books and television, I don’t believe anyone has the right to force anyone’s religious or spiritual beliefs on anyone, and I comend the Romanian gov’t for recognizing that witchcrafters also have rights!

I disagree with them, they even sacrifice chickens or other animals. I am a Wiccan(a lost soul, in some of the people around here) and I can see what’s really happening here, in romania. too bad we can’t live in peace. Love your neighbour as you would love yourself, my christian friends.

I’m a witch. Reading the article, it appears to me that what Romania has made legal is working as a psychic. “Witch,” in this instance, is a marketing term.
I will point out here that nearly all witches that I know here in the US believe that the energy a person sends out into the universe returns to that person threefold. It may not return in exactly the same form, but return it will. I wish some of the other folks here didn’t fear us, but their fear doesn’t mean that we actually do the things they fear.

Interesting. I find the commentary thus far ridiculous. Very few rational thoughts expressed. Either looking for the supernatural or looking at some deity or another to condemn the searchers. It all strikes me as quite silly. It shows that we aren’t much less superstitious than in any other country I assume. (Not really ragging on either view presented, just pointing out that this is more a sociological issue rather than a “my religion is better than yours” sort of thing).

Okay, so it isn’t that bad, witch craft my “be bad in the bible” but if you think about it “God” have humans the right to free will. They can practice what they want, you need to not be mean or put down the people that aren’t part of your views. If we all had the same views as each other this world would already be gone. you ppl suck:)) i`m from romania and never heard of such thing…i would like it to be legal of course, but there are no rules concerning witchcraft as long as i know…withcraft is practiced and has been practiced since always especially in rural areas and never has someone come to tell a witch to quit doing her magick:)) because (from the high powers of a state) actually believes in it…it is not illegal to practice it:) i practice it as well and noone has come to stop me…there are some well known witches as well, who appear in newspaperss or tv and they are actually helping people…i think that the legal thing is actually the practicing as a medium or other things like that, i dont know what you are reffering to, but pure witchcraft (im refering to the witchcraft practiced in villages with black roosters and and blades put through fire and shit) has nver been made “legal” by any goverment because nobody actually gives a shit:) hope i have been useful in some twisted sort of way…oh, and excuse my poor english…:)

I’m from Romania and it’s not true that the witchcraft is legalized here…but it’s true that the witchcraft it’s practiced in the rural areas where the elder womans tend to do those kind of rituals for different purposes.That is the way they were raised,with that background but it isn’t legal and it’s practiced on a smal scale.

Im from Romania also, and I have seen a couple of witches. If that is really what you want to call them. They are sort of like gypsies and yes they can do spells for bad and for good. They can also see the future and so forth. I don’t think that any of them will do bad spells because Romanians are really into like supersticious shit so if they see like a coin with a hole in it they will trip out and say someone tried to curse them, and it might be true. They also have reverse spells and to banish spells away that kind of shit. Also roxana is right it is not really that popular you would really have to know some people that know some people in order to get to even see one.
