Clothing for chickens

Posted in Weird by Teo

A range of fashion clothing for chickens has been launched last year by a group of designers working in Austria and Japan.

There are five models of clothes for chickens: Austria, Japan, Camouflage, Knitted and Hairy.

The Austrian designer Edgar Honetschlaeger, one of the chicken suit inventor, said “It’s something that you don’t really need, but everyone wants to have anyway!”

He is promoting the range on his website, www.chickenssuit.com, and a fashion show was touring the world last year.

Several farmers have already had chicken suits with the name of their farm ordered and many advertisers have enquired about the possibility of having sponsored suits promoting everything from KFC to chicken soup.

I have several chickens, and my daughter’s chicken clothes are way better than the so called Chicken suit. She dresses her chickens for holidays and special ocassions. You can also check out my website, chickenauctions.com and maybe find some of the clothing on there.

    WTF?

WHY would you dress up a chicken?

That’s about as pointless as giving a plant socks. That chicken suit is made of tears and FAIL.

I don’t believe in playing dress-up with chickens, HOWEVER, I WILL GIVE THREE REASONS WHY CHICKEN CLOTHING IS AN ABOSULUTE NEED!

Hens do get torn from persistent breeding. The Rooster’s spurs dig into a hens sides leaving a nasty and painful gash through the skin. They are usually the ones he favors the most. Clothing protects the hens from this happening.

Also, one of my hens had a puncture wound about the size of dime just below her keel. Protecting the area with clothing safeguards against fly and larva infestation and bacteria.

An open wound on the bottom of a chickens foot can lead to something called ‘bumble foot’. It is very painful and the mortality rate is low. I use dog ‘booties’ to protect the area until it heals.

I believe chicken clothing should only be used as needed and not to be used for days on end because one thinks it’s cute.

They cannot preen themselves or take a dust bath to rid themselves of lice.

thats so dumb why give chickens clothes for fashion! there soul purpose in life is to lay eggs or be eaten. the only good thing about those clothes is too keep other chickens from pecking at a wound on another one
